Kansas City Royals fans are pretty adamant; they want to see the fresh new faces joining the team and who can blame them? Not that anyone is taking anything away from the regulars whom the fans still have much love and appreciation for.

But it seems there's just a bit of a stir going on for Coco Crisp (center fielder), Willie Bloomquist (second baseman), Mike Jacobs (first baseman) and Kyle Farnsworth (relief pitcher). If the selection doesn't sound enough to whet your appetite, there will be 26 players in total will be on hand for this year's FanFest with the exception of Jose Guillen.

You may recall last year's FanFest when Guillen caused an upset by informing Dayton Moore, GM, that he wasn't interested in playing left field as the Royals wanted him to. Perhaps as an assurance that Guillen won't be so free spoken again this year, Guillen will not be in attendance.

Moore advised that Guillen will, instead, be concentrating on preparing for the World Baseball Classic where he will represent the Dominican Republic and what else? Spring training of course.

Also in attendance at the FanFest will be top player Mike Aviles, top pitcher Joakim Soria and special achievement recipient Zack Greinke. The list of team attendees doesn't stop there though. Other members rounding out the group includes Mark Teahen, John Bale, Gil Meche, Alex Gordon, Kyle Davies, Brandon Duckworth, Luke Hochevar, Devon Lowrey, Brian Bannister, John Buck, Esteban German, Shane Costa, Kila Ka'aihue, Ron Mahay, Neal Musser, Ryan Shealy and Miguel Olivo.

If that's not enough for fans anxious to shake hands, get autographs and take pictures, alumni attendees will include Willie Wilson, Jim Eisenreich, Frank White, Dennis Leonard, John Wathan, Mike Macfarlane, Joe Randa, John Mayberry, Jamie Quirk, Brian McRae, Greg Pryor and Jeff Montgomery.

Seems only person missing is George Brett. The Hall of Famer will be honored at an event in Los Angeles and cannot attend the FanFest.

The FanFest may be one of the only occasions where so many members of the Royals will all be in one place...Until Spring Training that is. Spring Training for the Royals picks up late in February then takes off in March with only 4 days during the month that games are not scheduled.

With only 2 days off in April, we can expect to see the Royals face off against the New York Yankees at home on April 10. It may still be too cold to visualize the warm days and starry nights along with the delightful scent of hot dogs but it's only a matter of time before the snowdrifts have dissipated and the cold temperatures are blown away and replaced by plenty of what the fans want; plenty of occasions to enjoy one of America's favorite past times: baseball.

For now, fans want a glimpse at the new faces that will be taking the field this spring and for the season opener against the Yankees.
